needless to say, i had a magical time. the communing with nature and lovely folks really made me feel good and centered and relaxed. and loved. by people i don’t see often. that’s precious and priceless, you know?
i stayed there for three nights and almost four days. coming back to normal life was weird- not unpleasant, just… louder than i remembered somehow. i’ve made tentative plans to camp again in a couple weeks for another friend’s birthday down in southern indiana somewhere where there’s a rock quarry you can swim in. it sounds fun and exciting and random! and it turns out that although i am picky about sleeping arrangements in general (i say i’m too old to sleep on the floor- kind of true, as parts of me hurt now when they didn’t used to after a hard night’s sleep) i discovered (or, rather, rediscovered) that camping has its own rules. i totally didn’t mind. when you’re tired from hiking all around and being in the sun and drinking beer by the fire, a sleeping bag on the ground is pretty great. especially if you’re sleeping next to your friends. as long as you get to sleep before t, as his snoring will make it rather difficult if you don’t. ha.
